On the 27th, the People’s Bank of China, the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the State Administration for Market Regulation released five typical cases of illegal manufacture and sale of “renminbi-version” spirit money. They are: a case involving a printing business and a wholesaler in Huai’an, Jiangsu; a case involving a trading company in Weinan, Shaanxi; a case involving a sales department of a paper company in Shangqiu, Henan; an illegal sales case involving a shop in Liaoyuan, Jilin; and a case involving a funeral services provider in Xining, Qinghai. The so-called manufacture and sale of “renminbi-version” spirit money refers to spirit money whose complete renminbi design is used or imitated on the made and sold items, using banknote images that are either currently in circulation or have exited circulation.
