On March 25, Yuan Xiaoming, Assistant Minister of Commerce, and Dai Jianye, Secretary for Economic and Financial Affairs of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, jointly chaired the Eighth Meeting of the Mainland–Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee. Yuan Xiaoming said that 2026 is the first year of the “15th Five-Year Plan” (“15th Five-Year Plan”). Macao is currently drafting its “Three-Five” plan (“Three-Five” plan). At this time, convening a meeting of the Mainland–Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee is of great significance for supporting Macao in proactively aligning with the “15th Five-Year Plan” (“15th Five-Year Plan”) and further deepening economic and trade relations between the two places. The Ministry of Commerce will work to advance in depth the expansion of openness under CEPA and its implementation, support Macao’s participation in co-building the Belt and Road Initiative, and help build the China–Portugal platform in Macao, thereby promoting the development of Macao’s economy toward appropriate diversification. Dai Jianye said that, benefiting from the Central Government’s series of measures to benefit Macao, all sectors in Macao have developed in a sound and steady manner. Under the leadership of the Central Government, Macao will fully and accurately, with resolve and unwavering commitment, implement the principle of “one country, two systems,” properly address various risks and challenges, and maintain Macao’s long-term prosperity and stability. The Macao Special Administrative Region Government is willing to work with the Ministry of Commerce to give full play to the role of the Mainland–Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee, further deepening economic and trade cooperation between the two places. After the meeting, both sides signed a meeting summary. (Ministry of Commerce)
