I just realized that many friends jump into crypto without knowing what they’re doing. They just hear from friends or see on Twitter and then buy immediately. Honestly, this is very dangerous.
So I want to discuss something super important but often overlooked: what is DYOR and why is it a game-changer for crypto investors. DYOR or Do Your Own Research is not just a slogan, but a mindset that should become a habit if you want to survive in this space.
What exactly is DYOR? It’s about personal responsibility to dive deep into each project before throwing your money in. Not just listening to hype from influencers or following the crowd. You need to really understand what you’re buying, who’s behind the project, what technology they’re using, and where they’re headed.
I’ve seen many people lose money because they skip this step. They invest in projects that turn out to be scams or just hype without solid fundamentals. If they had done their own research from the start, they might have avoided these traps.
Practical tips from my experience: first, read their whitepaper. It’s not a boring document; it’s the DNA of the project. Look at who the development team is, their backgrounds, whether they’ve succeeded in other projects or it’s their first time. Second, check if the project solves a real problem or just rides a trend. Is there adoption from the community? Adoption is a more reliable signal than marketing hype.
Don’t forget to also look at charts and volume. Is the price stable or volatile? Is liquidity good? This gives an idea of how serious the market is about the asset. And what I think is most overlooked is following the latest news. The crypto market moves fast, regulations can change, security threats can appear at any time. If you don’t stay updated, you might miss important info that affects your portfolio.
In short, DYOR is not optional. It’s mandatory if you’re serious about crypto. Don’t just believe what people say. Do your own research, make decisions based on your own data and analysis. This is the best way to protect yourself and make smarter investment decisions in this volatile world.
