Ryanair: Possible aviation fuel shortage in Europe in May
People’s Finance and News April 1—Michael O’Leary, chief executive officer of Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost airline, said on April 1 that if transport through the Strait of Hormuz continues to be obstructed, the airline may face the highest level of a 25% fuel shortfall between May and June, and Europe’s aviation fuel supply will be tight in May. O’Leary said in an interview that day that, under an optimistic scenario, if the fighting in the Middle East ends and the Strait of Hormuz resumes normal operations in mid to late April, there would be no concerns about aviation fuel supply; but if the fighting continues and the strait remains closed, Ryanair will face a risk of an aviation fuel supply shortage of about 10% to 25% between May and June. He added that overall Europe’s aviation fuel supply will be tight in May. (CCTV News)
