ME News message, April 4 (UTC+8). Iran’s former foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said Tehran should use its “advantage” in the war to push for a “comprehensive peace agreement to end the 47-year hostility with Washington.” In an op-ed, he wrote: “Tehran should use its advantage—not continue fighting, but declare victory and reach an agreement that both ends the current conflict and prevents future conflicts.” He said the peace agreement should include limits on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, as well as reopening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for lifting all economic sanctions against Iran. Zarif said this is a “deal Washington previously would not accept, but might now accept.” Zarif served as Iran’s foreign minister from 2013 to 2021. (Source: PANews)
