Answer: In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Commerce initiated an anti-discrimination investigation on September 26, 2024 into Canada’s related restrictive measures against China, and on March 8, 2025, issued the adjudication announcement, announcing anti-discrimination measures for Canada in the form of additional tariffs. To implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, China and Canada made specific arrangements to properly address trade and economic issues in areas such as electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products, agricultural and water products, and others. Recently, the Canadian government officially announced certain adjustments to its measures imposing additional tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum products, etc. This is consistent with the circumstances under which China adjusts its anti-discrimination measures. China decided that from March 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, it will not apply tariff measures related to anti-discrimination measures to certain imported goods originating in Canada, and on February 27, 2026, it issued an announcement in accordance with the law to formally announce the corresponding adjustments to its anti-discrimination measures against Canada.
