The U.S. has been reported to be contemplating a so-called "final blow" military option against Iran.

CCTV reporter On March 26 local time, multiple U.S. officials and informed sources revealed that the U.S. Department of Defense is formulating a so-called “last strike” military option against Iran, which may include the deployment of ground troops and large-scale airstrikes. Analysts suggest that if diplomatic negotiations do not make progress, especially given the ongoing disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, the likelihood of escalation will further increase. Some U.S. officials believe that ending the conflict through strong military action could provide more leverage for subsequent negotiations.

Reports indicate that the options being discussed internally by the U.S. include blockades or military actions against Iran’s main oil export hubs and key islands, while also considering intercepting Iranian oil shipments in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, the U.S. military has prepared strike plans targeting Iranian nuclear facilities, including conducting ground operations deep inland or launching large-scale airstrikes. However, the related plans have not yet been finalized, and the White House has stated that related ground actions remain “hypothetical.”

Recently, the White House stated that if substantial progress is not made in negotiations with Iran, the U.S. does not rule out further escalation of actions. Meanwhile, the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the Middle East, including fighter jet formations and ground troops. Iran has previously warned that if attacked, it would carry out large-scale retaliation in the Gulf region. (CCTV reporter Xu Xiao)
