Ministry of Commerce: Optimize the inbound consumption environment and promote the export of travel services
At the regular press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce today, the spokesperson said that the Ministry of Commerce, together with relevant departments, issued a set of policy measures titled “Policy Measures to Promote the Export of Travel Services and Expand Inbound Consumption.” The measures are intended to further spur the potential for inbound consumption. According to the briefing, travel services are the largest sector of China’s services trade, and their import and export scale accounts for more than one quarter of the total services trade. In recent years, China has continued to roll out a series of initiatives such as services standardization, visa facilitation, and internationalization of payments, to optimize the international consumption environment and enhance the appeal of inbound consumption. Chinese tourism has become a new trend among overseas visitors. In 2025, the export scale of travel services reached RMB 3939.8 billion, up 49.5% year on year, making it the fastest-growing sector in services exports, but the export scale is still smaller than imports.
