On March 25, during the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (MC14) in Yaoundé, Cameroon, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Schreinemacher. The two sides conducted an in-depth exchange of views on China-Netherlands economic and trade relations and WTO reform. Chinese Ambassador to the WTO Li Yongjun participated in the meeting. Wang Wentao stated that today, Premier Li Qiang had a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Yachten, injecting new momentum into the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. Since establishing an open and pragmatic comprehensive partnership in 2014, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has deepened continuously. This not only aligns with the common interests of both parties but also benefits the healthy development of China-EU economic and trade relations and the security and stability of global supply chains. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen policy exchanges with the Dutch side through platforms such as the Economic and Trade Mixed Commission and to properly resolve issues in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries through dialogue and consultation. Both China and the Netherlands are staunch supporters and active contributors to the multilateral trading system and are willing to work together to promote practical results at MC14 in areas such as investment facilitation agreements and e-commerce. Schreinemacher stated that China is an important economic and trade partner for the Netherlands, and the new Dutch government highly values the development of relations with China. The Netherlands is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, further deepen the open and pragmatic comprehensive partnership, and enhance industrial cooperation in areas such as climate change, water treatment, innovation, and agriculture. They look forward to soon leading a delegation of entrepreneurs to visit China and holding the 18th meeting of the China-Netherlands Economic and Trade Mixed Commission with the Chinese side to strengthen dialogue and communication and to consult on finding solutions to differences. The Dutch side appreciates China’s support for the multilateral trading system and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side to ensure the success of MC14. The two sides also exchanged views on China-Netherlands semiconductor cooperation and the ASML semiconductor issue.
