PC(Polycarbonate)Imports in February decreased to the lowest level in nearly 17 years
Gelonghui, March 26|According to data from the General Administration of Customs, the import volume of PC (polycarbonate) in February was 53,100 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 27.08%, marking a historic low since January 2009. The significant decline in import volume is influenced by the supply reduction due to upcoming maintenance of external facilities, as well as closely related to the contraction of downstream demand during the Spring Festival holiday. In the short term, with downstream enterprises fully resuming operations after the holiday, March import volumes are expected to see a rebound. However, due to international conflicts and force majeure affecting some facilities, the increase in import volumes is expected to be limited. From a medium to long-term perspective, as domestic production capacity continues to be released and the quality of domestic materials steadily improves, the total import volume of PC may continue to show a stable yet declining trend. The optimization of import structure and the ability to replace high-end grades will become key points of focus in the future market.
