Two More LPG Tankers Depart Persian Gulf for India via Hormuz Strait
On March 28, foreign media reported that two more tankers carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) bound for India have passed through the Hormuz Strait, leaving the Persian Gulf. According to vessel tracking data, the BW Tyr and BW Elm tankers, flying the Indian flag and fully loaded with LPG, were last reported passing the northern tip of the Oman Peninsula. Throughout their journey, both vessels used transponders to signal their Indian ownership and crew, which has become a standard safety measure. India heavily relies on LPG imports from the Persian Gulf and is currently facing a severe shortage of such fuel.
