Russia states that it is unclear whether the United States is negotiating with Iran.
On March 24 local time, Russian President’s press secretary Peskov stated at a regular news briefing that the Russian side is unclear whether the United States is negotiating with Iran, as the statements from the relevant parties are contradictory, and the actual situation is unknown. Iran has maintained an open attitude towards negotiations until the U.S. launched attacks, which is “well known worldwide.” Peskov said that the Russian side holds an “extremely negative” position regarding the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East affecting the Caspian Sea region. The Russian Foreign Ministry has previously strongly protested Israel’s bombing of Iran’s Anzali port on the Caspian coast, emphasizing that such actions harm Russian interests. He stated that there is no information regarding Israel’s alleged attack on Russian vessels reportedly transporting weapons to Iran via the Caspian Sea. (CCTV News)
