Zhongguancun Science Park Construction Accelerates Again

News report (by Sun Qiru): On March 26, at the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum parallel forum—the World Leading Science and Technology Park Development Forum—a series of major cooperative projects were concentratedly implemented. Zhongguancun made solid progress in deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research, linking global innovation resources, and improving the service capacity of parks.

High quality, new industries, strong ecosystems, lively mechanisms, and good quality-and-efficiency have made Zhongguancun’s featured industrial parks the main battleground for building world-leading science and technology parks in Zhongguancun and the leading arena for developing new productive forces. On the same day, 24 Zhongguancun featured industrial parks, including the Zhongguancun (Jingxi) Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Park and the Zhongguancun (Haidian) Embodied Intelligence Innovation Industrial Park, received plaques, signaling that Zhongguancun has taken a solid step forward in optimizing its innovation ecosystem and enhancing its service capacity.

Deepening the integration of industry, academia, and research: 16 Zhongguancun science and technology parks signed co-construction agreements with universities and research institutes. Focusing on key areas such as artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, new materials, and medical devices, they will promote precise alignment between the innovation chain and the industrial chain, accelerating the transformation and implementation in Beijing of scientific and technological achievements. Partners include high-level universities and research institutes such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Jiaotong University, North China University of Technology, and the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The signed parks cover Jingxi Zhigu Technology Park, Zhongguancun Software Park, Zhongguancun Medical Device Park, and others. The partners will co-build a batch of innovation platforms at high energy levels, such as Beijing key laboratories, technology achievement transformation service platforms, industry-education integration bases, and industrial think tanks—using parks as the carriers and universities and research institutes as the sources, bridging the “last mile” from laboratories to industrialization.

Deepening global innovation linkages: 10 domestic parks and park alliances, including the Zhongguancun Featured Industrial Park Alliance, the Zhongguancun (Haidian) International Robotics Industrial Park, and the Zhongguancun (Fengtai) Intelligent MedTech Industrial Park, respectively signed international cooperation agreements with overseas partner parks from countries and regions such as Italy, the Netherlands, Belarus, and Africa. They will promote cross-border flow of innovation factors such as technology, talent, and capital, forming an international collaborative innovation network with equal emphasis on “bringing in” and “going global.” For example, in the strategic cooperation reached between Jiyu Xingfa Technology Park and the P4 Sino-British Precision Medical (Beijing) Innovation Center, both sides will co-build an internationalized science and technology exchange and industrial cooperation platform. This will help bring overseas high-quality innovation resources together in Beijing for aggregation and transformation, and build an efficient bridge for cross-border technology transfer, talent exchange, and project collaboration.
