Iran has stopped supplying natural gas to southern Iraq.
On the 28th local time, the spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Abadi, stated that Iran has stopped supplying natural gas to the southern region of Iraq since the evening of the 27th, with a previous daily supply amount of 10 million cubic meters. Abadi noted that the amount of natural gas currently supplied by Iran to the central region of Iraq is also limited to 10 million cubic meters per day.
Abadi pointed out that the ongoing turmoil in the region is impacting oil extraction, production, and export within Iraq. The Ministry of Electricity is closely monitoring the regional situation to ensure that Iran’s restrictions do not affect the fuel supply needed for power plants within Iraq.
