Toyota's comprehensive strategy: the resolve to retain internal combustion engines
On December 5, 2025, in the “Woven City,” a technology verification city located in Susono City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, Toyota demonstrated its determination.
Toyota unveiled three upcoming ultra-luxury sports cars. The “GR GT,” scheduled to be released around 2027, will be the first production car to feature a 4-liter V8 engine.
The hybrid vehicle (HV) “Prius” has an engine displacement of 1.8 to 2.0 liters. In the context of increasingly strict environmental regulations, this car will instead introduce a larger displacement engine. As a production vehicle, it aims to achieve world-class standards and is positioned as the pinnacle of sports cars.
