During the 2026 Spring Festival holiday, the daily vehicle transportation volume across the Qiongzhou Strait exceeded 40,000 trips

According to the Pearl River Maritime Administration of the Ministry of Transport, during the 2026 Spring Festival holiday (February 15–23), the Qiongzhou Strait passenger and roll-on/roll-off ferry service operated a total of 2,564 flights, transporting 1.273 million passengers and 290,000 vehicles. The peak day was February 23 (the seventh day of the Lunar New Year), with 182,000 passengers and 40,200 vehicles transported. This was the first time in history that daily vehicle transportation exceeded 40,000. During the holiday, the number of ferry departures, passenger volume, and vehicle volume increased by 18.2%, 19.2%, and 13.3%, respectively. The average daily vehicle transportation volume reached 32,000 vehicles, setting a new record. The daily transportation of new energy vehicles exceeded 6,400 units, a year-on-year increase of over 60%. From the third to the seventh day of the Lunar New Year, the vehicle transportation volume leaving the island remained above 20,000 vehicles for five consecutive days. (CCTV News)
