Abstract generation in progress

【ChainWen】ChatGPT recently launched an age prediction feature to identify whether the user behind an account is a minor. This system has already been rolled out globally, with the EU region to follow in the next few weeks.

The core logic is quite straightforward: it estimates the user’s age by analyzing signals such as account usage behavior, active hours, and operation habits. Once determined to be under 18, the system automatically locks age-appropriate content filtering and various usage restrictions.

A detail worth noting is—if an adult user is mistakenly identified by the system as underage, there’s no need to panic. Completing identity verification in the settings can unlock full permissions. This design considers the possibility of misjudgment and provides users with a correction window.

From the platform’s perspective, this is about balancing compliance and user experience. On one hand, it aims to protect minors from exposure to inappropriate content; on the other hand, it prevents adult users from being overly restricted due to algorithmic errors.
