Don't remind me again today

Australia has taken a historic step – it has become the first country to completely ban social media for those under the age of 16.

Which platforms does the ban, effective from December 10, cover? All major platforms are on the list, including Facebook, X, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Kick, and Reddit.

This decision is the strictest example of age restrictions in the digital world. Platforms will be required to close accounts belonging to users under 16. Will such regulations pave the way for decentralized social networks? That’s open to debate.

Australia is really tough this time, directly banning everyone under 16. Will web3 social take off in this opportunity? Wow, even YouTube is banned? What will those kids watch... With this, the spring of decentralized social seems to have arrived, since all the big platforms are blocked. How is it even possible to enforce this? Once a VPN is on, no one can stop it. It's a bit ridiculous, are minors completely off the internet? Why not just let them all use anonymous social on the chain, after all, the government can't control it anyway. Can this setup really work? I have my doubts. Goodness, it's a one-size-fits-all approach, isn’t there any transitional plan? Will there be a global trend following this... quite scary. Banning internet for those under 16, algebra will have to be done using blockchain, haha. Kids nowadays are going to have a tough time, they can't play anything. Is this a signal of web2 collapsing?

Australia's measures are extreme, really locking down children under 16. Wait, what about decentralized on-chain social networks? This is the real loophole. Australia is taking more drastic steps than the EU... it feels like more and more countries are going to adopt this. Gen Z kids now have nowhere to go, haha. But seriously, banning YouTube for those under 16 is just too absolute. The real big move: are decentralized platforms going to da moon? Australia: We banned everything, except for what you can't access on-chain. Once the ban is out, underground social apps are going to explode.

Australia’s move is really something else—they’re kicking out everyone under 16? Those kids will have to turn to on-chain social platforms now. Wait a minute, could this actually pave the way for decentralized social networks instead… that’s kind of interesting when you think about it.

Will this trick work in Australia? LOL, VPNs can break through in minutes, just as useless as the 2018 crypto ban. --- Here comes another regulatory myth. Just wait, when decentralized social platforms take off, they'll find out it's still a scam. --- Banning social media for those under 16... fine, let's see who can capture this wave of traffic dividends. --- I've been through this before. These hard bans just end up fostering gray markets, and the cost is super low. --- Some people really believe this can change anything? The market has its own way—bans can't stop it.
