Decoding K, Millions and Billions: The Guide You Needed

robot
Abstract generation in progress

If you've ever found yourself lost looking at numbers like “100K” or “1B” on social media, crypto markets, or in business conversations, today we'll clear that up for you. It's simpler than it seems.

The Real Breakdown

The “K” is your friend: It comes from “kilo” and means thousand. So when you see 50K in Bitcoin, we're talking about $50,000. Easy:

  • 1K = 1,000
  • 50K = 50,000
  • 100K = 100,000

“M” for Million: One step higher. It's a thousand times a thousand.

  • 1M = 1,000,000
  • 2.5M = 2,500,000

“B” for Billion: The heavyweight. One billion in a single number.

  • 1B = 1,000,000,000
  • 5B = 5,000,000,000

Why Does This Matter?

In crypto especially, these numbers appear everywhere: project market cap, trading volume, holders, reserves. Understanding the scale is the difference between reading “1B TVL” and thinking “wow” without knowing if it's a lot or a little.

Quick Table

Term Equals Number
1K One thousand 1,000
1M One million 1,000,000
1B One billion 1,000,000,000

Now that you know, the numbers in crypto don't seem so intimidating, do they?

I'm really bored. If I don't write anything, I won't get paid, so I'll just write something simple, like elementary school stuff.
