Source: BlockMedia Original Title: Domestic builders find answers in Africa and Southeast Asia… Sharing experiences from DSRV and Shard Lab Original Link: https://www.blockmedia.co.kr/archives/1008501 The domestic digital asset ( and virtual asset ) market is still stuck in a price-centric flow, while domestic builders, who are gaining actual construction experience, are seeking new directions by solving problems in overseas fields. Entrepreneurs and developers are continuing to prepare for a service-oriented ecosystem by sharing experiences directly encountered, ranging from infrastructure limitations in underdeveloped areas to the rapidly growing user market in Southeast Asia.

A networking event was held in a multi-cultural space in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where early-stage entrepreneurs, university project leads, game studio developers, corporate blockchain teams, angel investors, VCs, and open-source builders gathered to share their experiences in building digital assets in the country. On that day, the challenges and experiments of the practical building process, which are difficult to reveal in price-driven market flows, were disclosed.

Infrastructure Challenges in Underdeveloped Areas

The blockchain infrastructure company DSRV introduced the constraints that blockchain technology encounters in real-world environments and the process of overcoming them, focusing on a case of infrastructure development conducted in Madagascar, Africa.

The DSRV engineer stated, “We directly installed equipment in Madagascar to verify how to operate Cosmos( hubs and Ethereum) nodes in underdeveloped regional environments, but in the IT company office where the nodes were deployed, the electricity was cut off several times a day, with power outages lasting as long as half a day.” He also added, “During the daytime, the network speed dropped sharply, leading to repeated situations where the nodes could not synchronize, making it difficult to maintain even the basic settings.”

“In order to secure a stable environment, we ultimately had no choice but to find alternatives locally,” he said, adding, “After several attempts, we were able to use a system that supplies power 24 hours a day at a farm run by expatriates, and by adding a dedicated local telecom line, we established the minimum conditions necessary for the node to withstand.” He further noted, “Through this process, I realized that operating blockchain infrastructure in underdeveloped areas requires not only technological readiness but also indirect solutions tailored to local circumstances.”

DSRV evaluated that the potential for blockchain-based financial inclusion services is significant through this experience. An engineer stated, “In Madagascar, telecommunications companies effectively act as banks, enabling remittances and microloans solely through text messages,” and added, “We confirmed on-site that the lower the basic financial accessibility in such areas, the greater the possibility for blockchain to provide practical assistance.”

Rapid Growth of the Southeast Asian Market

The subsequent presentation shared building experiences not only in underdeveloped regions like Africa but also in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian market. Hashed's venture builder organization, Shard Lab, introduced its strategy for expanding the Web3 ecosystem, focusing on Southeast Asia.

The CEO of Shard Labs stated, “The Southeast Asian market has a fast adoption rate of digital assets, and user-based services such as GameFi( are actively growing.” He also mentioned, “We are jointly developing projects like financial infrastructure and real asset tokenization) with local partners in this region.”

He added, “Based on a venture builder model where engineer-founded entrepreneurs participate directly as co-founders(Co-Founder), we are expanding our business by investing both technology and personnel from the early stages.” He further stated, “Southeast Asia is a market where services that solve real problems are quickly taking root, making it a suitable environment for Korean builders to go global.”

Shard Lab plans to hold Southeast Asia Blockchain Week in Bangkok in the first half of next year. The representative stated, “This event is positioned to cater to the rapidly adopting retail customer base in the Southeast Asian market,” and added, “We are preparing it to function as a platform for Korean builders to secure a user base locally.”
