Create your NFT: the journey from creativity to blockchain

For quite some time now, people have been talking about these NFTs, but I just couldn't figure out what kind of creature it is and how to deal with it. I finally decided to dig a little deeper, and you know what, it turned out not to be so difficult to create my own non-fungible coin!

If you also want to try your hand at creating NFTs, there are a few decent platforms to start with. Personally, I initially looked towards Tezos, but then I realized that the BSC network offers much lower fees and faster transaction processing. Plus, there is an active community of NFT enthusiasts there.

What you need to know before starting

All this hype around NFT didn’t just happen for no reason. Remember that artist Beeple, who sold his digital artwork for 69 million bucks? Crazy money! And although most of us won’t earn such amounts, everyone can create their coin.

Before diving into this adventure, you will need:

  • Your work ( picture, song, meme — whatever )
  • A little crypto for fees
  • Crypto wallet

I struggled for a long time with the choice of blockchain. Ethereum was the first to offer NFT in the modern format, but the fees are just outrageous! I once tried to create a coin there — I almost went bankrupt. BSC turned out to be much more budget-friendly.

What is NFT really

Essentially, it's like a collectible Pokémon card, only digital. Yes, anyone can download a picture of your NFT, but there is still only one owner — the one who is recorded on the blockchain.

By the way, even in limited series NFTs, not all coins are equal. The first in the collection usually costs more than the others.

What can be used to create an NFT

Here, imagination knows no bounds! Most often, these are digital works: images, gifs, videos, audio. But sometimes there are also physical items with an attached NFT — for example, at a Christie's auction, an art object with the private key on a hardware wallet was once sold.

Which wallet to choose

I struggled with this issue. It turned out that not all wallets support all blockchains. In the end, I settled on MetaMask — it supports both Ethereum and BSC. Trust Wallet is also a good option for mobile devices.

Process of creation on the marketplace

I tried BakerySwap, and you know, it's all very simple there:

  1. Connect your wallet
  2. You click "Mint Artworks"
  3. Fill in the info about your masterpiece
  4. Upload the file
  5. You agree to the rules and pay the fee

The whole process took about five minutes! The fee was only 0.01 BNB.

Treasureland is also a good option — you can actually create NFTs for free there. The only downside is that only images and GIFs are supported, but the royalties are fixed at 10%.

How to share your NFT

After creation, you can send the NFT to another person directly from the wallet. The main thing is that the recipient gives you the correct address for your type of coin.

Joint ownership is more complicated — most NFT standards (ERC721, BEP721) allow only one owner. However, some platforms allow splitting the income from the first sale between multiple wallets.

That's it! The world of NFT turned out to be not as frightening as I thought. Now I plan to create a whole collection of my works. What if I'm lucky, and some crypto millionaire decides to buy them? It's not harmful to dream!
