Slow Fog founder reminds: New method of off-exchange U trading fraud in the crypto world. Hackers obtain verification codes to steal accounts by contacting frequently connected friends late at night.

On June 18, Slow Mist founder Yu Xian stated, “To verify the situation of WeChat account theft, attackers use leaked account passwords (various leaked data may be found) combined with the target user’s frequently contacted friends (even just friends added or those interacted with in groups) to obtain a 6-digit verification code for account theft. Attackers often strike in the late night, primarily targeting off-exchange U trading scams in the crypto world. It is recommended to be cautious when adding friends on WeChat, change passwords in a timely manner, and pay attention to WeChat’s abnormal login risk alerts.”
