The Trump administration is considering imposing a 20% global tariff.

According to the Gate news bot, Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos reported that officials from the Trump administration are discussing specific implementation plans for tariff policies this week. The advisory team recently proposed to impose a global tariff of up to 20% on almost all U.S. trading partners using the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). The President prefers a "big and simple" policy approach, which has a broader coverage than the previous plan that only targeted tariffs on the major trading partners accounting for 15% of global trade.
