What is StarkEx Technology
StarkEx is a Layer 2 scaling solution developed by StarkWare.

It uses zero-knowledge proofs, specifically zk-STARKs (Zero-Knowledge Scalable Transparent Arguments of Knowledge), to enhance the scalability and efficiency of blockchain transactions. Here are some of the main aspects of StarkEx technology:
- Zero-Knowledge Proofs: zk-STARKs allow StarkEx to prove the validity of transactions without revealing any specific details about them. This maintains privacy while ensuring the correctness of the transactions.
- Batching Transactions: StarkEx batches multiple transactions off-chain and then submits a single proof to the Ethereum mainnet. This reduces the number of on-chain transactions, lowering gas costs and increasing throughput.

- Cost Efficiency: By reducing the number of transactions that need to be processed on-chain, StarkEx lowers transaction costs. Users benefit from lower gas fees while maintaining the security and decentralization of the Ethereum network.
- Data Availability: StarkEx offers options for data availability. With on-chain data availability, all transaction data is posted on Ethereum, ensuring it can always be reconstructed if needed. Off-chain data availability reduces costs but requires trust in the data availability committee.
This technology is used by various applications and platforms to enhance their performance, including Immutable X for NFT minting and trading, dYdX for derivatives trading, and DeversiFi for high-frequency trading. These implementations demonstrate the flexibility and effectiveness of StarkEx in addressing the limitations of Ethereum’s Layer 1.

StarkEx enables Immutable X to process up to 9,000 transactions per second (TPS) for trades and 18,000 TPS for transfers. The use of STARKs ensures these transactions are secure and resistant to quantum attacks, unlike other zero-knowledge proof systems that may require a trusted setup.
