A new study by researchers at MIT CSAIL has found that AI chatbots like ChatGPT can lead users to false or extreme beliefs by over agreeing with them.
The study did not test on real users. Instead, the researchers created a simulation of a person conversing with a chatbot over time.
They modeled how a person updates their beliefs after each response.
