Kimbal Musk, Elon’s brother, is once again attracting attention with his political post on X. Recently, he criticized Trump’s policies, writing that the president imposed record-high taxes on American consumers through tariff strategies. Interestingly, this post sparked a wave of discussion, as Elon himself is known for his close ties to Trump.

Few people know that Kimbal Musk is not just the brother of a famous entrepreneur. He is a billionaire with his own fortune of around $700 million, mainly accumulated through Tesla shares. He appears to be about 52 years old and looks like someone living a completely different life than his brother.

What immediately stands out when meeting Kimbal Musk is his signature cowboy hat. It has become his trademark, setting him apart from the rest of the entrepreneurial world. At the same time, the brothers look alike: same square jaw, straight nose, green eyes. Both were born in Pretoria and hold South African, Canadian, and American citizenship.

The Musk family history is quite complicated. Kimbal, along with his younger sister Tosca ( and older brother Elon, experienced family violence. This led their mother, Maye, to divorce in 1979 and later emigrate to Canada, then to the US. Despite disagreements over political issues, the brothers love each other very much — blood still proves to be thicker than political positions.

Kimbal Musk and Elon co-founded Zip2 — a startup that provided business software for the internet. They sold the company in 1999 to Compaq for $307 million. This was their first major deal, which launched both brothers’ careers. Today, Kimbal focuses on philanthropy and environmental care, remaining one of the most interesting figures within the Musk family circle.
