Have you ever thought about what each heart you send on WhatsApp actually means? I just realized that I’ve probably been using them all wrong this whole time haha. Turns out, sending a red heart isn’t the same as sending a yellow one, and each one conveys a completely different feeling.

For example, the red heart is the classic, right? That’s for intense love, passion, true romance. But if you send someone an orange heart, you’re actually saying “I like you, but as a friend,” without any romantic intention. The yellow one is more for pure friendship and happiness. And each heart has its own vibe.

What surprised me was discovering that the meanings of hearts go way beyond that. The blue represents loyalty and trust, green is linked to nature or mild jealousy, and violet is for compassion and admiration. There are even some more special ones, like the heart on fire, which shows burning passion, or the one with an arrow, representing love at first sight.

There are others for tougher moments: the black heart for mourning or sadness, the broken one for deep heartbreak, and the bandaged one to show someone is healing. The white one is more tender, conveying innocence and pure love.

What’s interesting is that the meanings of hearts really matter in how we communicate. If you want to show someone you care but without being romantic, orange or yellow are your options. If it’s true love, well, red always works. And if you just fell in love, the sparkling heart or the beating one are perfect for that rush of emotion.

Now, every time I send a heart, I think twice about which one to choose. Were you also sending the wrong ones? Because honestly, I think many of us have been using these emojis incorrectly without even realizing it.
