Today, February 1st, is one of those days full of stories. In Argentina, we celebrate the Viticultural Worker’s Day, which recognizes everyone working in the vineyards from planting to wine distribution. Mendoza is key in this, you see? The region that exports wine worldwide. This labor recognition was formalized in 1991 with agreements that guaranteed rights such as a minimum wage.

But if we talk about February 1st anniversaries, there are many historical figures. Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, died on a day like today in 1851. Then we have the births of people like Clark Gable, filmmaker John Ford, and more recently Harry Styles in 1980, who has won several Grammys. Argentine forward Gabriel Batistuta was also born on February 1st.

Important figures also died on this date, such as physicist Werner Heisenberg in 1976 and actor Buster Keaton in 1966. It’s interesting how a single day brings together so much: from labor celebrations to world cinema and literature history. Plus, today is World Greyhound Day, so there’s something for everyone.
