I recently discovered a projector that completely changed the way I watch shows, especially for renters who no longer need to be tied down by a large TV in the living room. The OVO SS1 Laser TV Mini is surprisingly impressive. Its design looks like a minimalist storage box, and it fits perfectly on a TV stand without standing out. The best part is that it weighs just over 1 kilogram, so I can carry it with one hand.
The highlight of its specs is the ultra-short throw capability—only 29 centimeters away from the wall to project a 100-inch screen. I placed it where my original TV was, and the wall instantly became a giant screen. With 1,200 ANSI lumens and RGB triple laser light sources, it’s clear even during daytime with the lights on, though I recommend using an anti-light screen for even better picture quality. The built-in battery is amazing—can be moved around the living room, bedroom, or balcony at will, and can even be charged with a portable power bank. For me, this is a game-changing feature.
The software system is also very clever, combining dual OS. OVO TV OS allows older family members to watch free channels right after turning on, while I use Google TV to access Netflix and Apple TV+. The built-in 8W dual speakers deliver decent sound quality; it’s clear enough even when watching in the dark on my phone, so I don’t need an external speaker. The company promises software updates for 7 years, which is quite sincere for a product meant to stay in the living room long-term. I truly think this mini projector is much more flexible than traditional TVs.
