#BlackRockToBuyUNI BlackRock Officially Steps Into DeFi with UniswapX
In a landmark move for the blockchain and traditional finance worlds, BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, has officially entered the DeFi ecosystem. On February 11, 2026, BlackRock’s tokenized U.S. Treasury fund, BUIDL — with approximately $2.2 billion in assets — became available for on-chain trading via UniswapX, signaling a direct bridge between TradFi and decentralized finance.
As part of this strategic integration, BlackRock has purchased an undisclosed amount of UNI tokens, marking its first exposure to DeFi governance tokens on its balance sheet. This is more than an investment — it represents the direct entry of traditional finance into decentralized infrastructure, providing institutional credibility and liquidity to one of the largest DeFi protocols.
The market reacted immediately. UNI surged between 25–42%, briefly touching $4.70, before stabilizing around $3.3–$4. The integration also enables 24/7 BUIDL-to-stablecoin swaps for whitelisted institutional investors, with compliance managed via Securitize, further bridging the gap between real-world assets (RWAs) and DeFi protocols.
This historic move is a major milestone for DeFi mainstream adoption. By bringing RWAs on-chain and investing directly in governance tokens, BlackRock signals that TradFi and DeFi are no longer parallel worlds — they are becoming intertwined. For Uniswap, this development significantly elevates its institutional profile, strengthens governance participation, and paves the way for further real-world asset integration.
In short, BlackRock’s entry is a game-changer for both DeFi and traditional finance, accelerating the adoption of tokenized assets and signaling that the era of institutional DeFi has truly begun.
