The article ideas or golden quotes that come to mind while eating, walking, working out, or daydreaming— if I don't record them promptly, I will forget or be unable to recall them after half an hour. When I finally sit down in front of the computer to write, what was I just thinking? That's why I developed the habit of using the file assistant as a memo.
