Whale stops loss and shifts position, betting on Ethereum staking after a $3.8 million loss

Abstract generation in progress

According to on-chain data monitoring, a major whale was forced to liquidate its long Bitcoin positions, incurring a loss of $3.7 million, and quickly adjusted its strategy. This fund movement is noteworthy — the whale subsequently withdrew all available funds and transferred 31.7 million USDC to Wintermute, a major liquidity provider, to facilitate a large purchase of 10,000 ETH in a single transaction.

Signals Revealed by Fund Flows

The subsequent actions of this transaction are even more intriguing. The whale did not choose to hold Ethereum spot but immediately converted all 10,000 ETH into liquidity staking tokens stETH, which were then transferred to a wallet address already holding 40,060 stETH (currently valued at approximately $126 million).

From the stop-loss exit of BTC longs to the large allocation in ETH, and then to a clear preference for staking yields, these moves reflect market participants’ reassessment of risk and proactive adjustment of profit strategies. A single transaction of 10,000 ETH is enough to ripple through the market, while the whale’s continued accumulation of stETH hints at a bullish outlook on long-term staking yields and the Ethereum ecosystem — such behavior typically appears during market bottoms or major strategic deployments.

This whale currently holds a total of 50,060 stETH, a scale of funds that indeed warrants market attention.
