The market value of cryptocurrencies surpassed $4 trillion, driven by a more than 120% increase in Bitcoin (year-on-year), outpacing the performance of gold (+15% year-on-year) and the Nasdaq index (+35% year-on-year). This positive development is also reflected in Indonesia. According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the value of cryptocurrency transactions reached IDR 409.56 trillion from January to September 2025, and by October 2025, the number of investors had surpassed 18.61 million consumers.

Indonesia currently ranks 7th in the 2025 Global Cryptocurrency Adoption Index, excelling in the institutional investment category (ranked 7th) and the DeFi category (ranked 4th). The Asia-Pacific region has become the main engine of global cryptocurrency growth, with a year-on-year trading volume increase of 69%, led by India, Vietnam, and Pakistan, while Indonesia has further strengthened its position through the participation of institutions and commercial players.

As of January 2025, OJK has recorded 556 institutional investors that have invested in digital assets. In terms of the capital market, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) reported that three listed companies have allocated part of their assets in the form of crypto assets. These three companies have a portfolio of digital assets including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), and XRP.

A global survey conducted by a compliant platform and EY-Parthenon shows that over 75% of institutional investors plan to increase their allocation to digital assets throughout 2025, with 59% planning to allocate more than 5% of their managed funds to cryptocurrencies or their derivatives.
