The payment project on BSC suffered a coordinated attack a few hours ago. The attackers moved 1,140 BNB (~$1.04M) to Tornado Cash on BSC, then used a cross-chain bridge to transfer 346.8 ETH (~$1.05M) to Tornado Cash on Ethereum.
What happened:
Total loss: ~$3.1M
346 additional ETH (~$1.046M) are “parked” at address 0x7a… on Ethereum
The flow of funds suggests a planned attack: BSC → Tornado Cash → Bridge to Ethereum → Tornado Cash again
Why it matters: The use of Tornado Cash indicates an attempt at money laundering. On-chain analysts like ZachXBT are tracking movements, but the privacy of mixers makes it difficult to trace further.
This is another reminder of why security audits matter in DeFi.
