On June 21, Trump posted on social media again criticizing Federal Reserve Chairman Powell: "The best way he (Powell) can contribute to America right now is to decisively drop interest rates. If he can cut rates by one to two basis points, this ‘wooden-headed’ man can save America up to 1 trillion dollars a year in expenses. Although my strong criticism may make it harder for him to fulfill his duties (to cut rates), I have tried all mild means: I have been polite, neutral, and tough, but unfortunately, none of them worked! Don’t use ‘potential inflation risks in the future’ as an excuse—because there is simply no inflation now! Even if inflation does appear in the future, it will be time enough to raise rates then.
I really don’t understand why the Federal Reserve Board doesn’t replace this complete idiot! Perhaps I need to change my mind about whether to fire Powell. But there’s no rush, anyway his term is almost up!
