Copper SOP ｜ Gate

To enable institutional clients to establish a secure and efficient connection between Copper and Gate, this document provides the standard operating procedure (SOP) for integrating Gate accounts with Copper ClearLoop.
This process is designed for verified institutional users and leverages the ClearLoop mechanism to separate custody from trading. Clients can execute trades without transferring assets onto the exchange, thereby enhancing asset security while maintaining operational efficiency.
After meeting the prerequisite conditions, please follow the steps below to complete account preparation, API creation, and ClearLoop binding to ensure a successful integration.

1. Prerequisites

The client must meet the following requirements:

• Gate KYC verification completed
• Copper institutional account opened
• Support from both Gate and Copper account managers
• ClearLoop functionality enabled

2.1 Create a Copper ClearLoop Account

Steps
1.Contact your Copper account manager to request creation of a: ClearLoop Trading Account

2.After the account is created:

• Copper will send an email notification
• The account will be visible on the Copper platform dashboard

Estimated time: ~5 minutes

2.2 Prepare Gate Account2.2 Prepare Gate Account

2.2.1 If You Already Have a Gate Account
Required actions:

1. Contact your Gate account manager to create a new account with: ClearLoop functionality enabled
2. Migrate existing positions from the old account (if any)
3. A new API Key will need to be created later

2.2.2 If You Do NOT Have a Gate Account
Required actions:

1. Register a new Gate account
2. Complete KYC verification
3. Contact your account manager to enable ClearLoop functionality

Important:
Before binding with Copper:

• Do NOT deposit funds
• Do NOT trade

Estimated time: 1–2 days (depending on verification progress)

2.3 Create API Key

1.Prerequisites
Confirm the following before creating the API Key:
✔ KYC verification completed
✔ ClearLoop functionality enabled

2.Creation Steps

• Log in to Gate
• Click avatar → API Key Management
• Click: Create API Key

3.Permission Settings
The API Key must be configured as follows:
Account Type:
✔ Trading Account

Permissions:
✔ Custody — Read & Write
(Enable required trading permissions such as Spot / Futures as needed.)

Note:
Enabling Custody automatically enables Subaccount permissions.

4.Completion

• Save the API Key and Secret securely
• Do NOT share them with unauthorized parties

2.4 Bind Copper and Gate

2.4.1 Log in to Copper Platform

1. Search for the ClearLoop Trading Account
2. Click the three-dot menu (Setting) next to the account
3. Select: ClearLoop

Estimated time: ~5 minutes

2.4.2 Establish Connection

Enter the following information:

1. Exchange: Select Gate
2. ClearLoop Account Name: Custom name
3. API Key: Enter Gate API Key
4. API Secret: Enter API Secret

Estimated time: ~10 minutes

2.4.3 Binding Successful

After successful binding:

• Account is connected
• Funds can be delegated
• Trading can begin

2.5 Create Sub-accounts (Optional)

The main account must be bound first
Otherwise: Sub-account creation will fail

2.5.1 Creation Steps

1.Log in to Gate
2.Click avatar → Subaccount Management
3.Click Create

4.Enter:

• Username
• Select Standard Subaccount

2.5.2 Completion
Copper will automatically detect and display the sub-accounts.

2.6 Delegate Funds

Under ClearLoop mode:

• Funds remain custodied by Copper
• The exchange is granted trading access

2.6.1 Delegation Steps

On the Copper platform:

1.Use the Multi-task Stripe
2.Select: lock

3.Choose:

• Asset
• Source account
• Destination exchange account

4.Enter the amount
5.Click Next and confirm

2.6.2 Delegation Rules

Supported

• One Copper account → Multiple exchange accounts
• Multiple accounts within the same exchange

Not Supported

• One exchange account linked to multiple Copper accounts

2.6.3 After Delegation

Funds can be viewed in:

• ClearLoop Dashboard
• Transaction history page
• Gate account balance

2.7 Unlock Funds (Withdraw from Exchange)

Steps

1.On the Copper platform select: Unlock

2.Choose:

• Asset
• Source account

3.Enter the amount
4.Confirm

3. Important Notes

⚠️ ClearLoop Dedicated Account
Use only the Gate account with ClearLoop enabled.
⚠️ API Key Permissions
Must include Custody — Read & Write.
⚠️ Sub-account Creation Order
The main account must be bound first.
⚠️ Fund Flow
Funds are not held on the exchange — they remain custodied by Copper.

4. Integration Completion Criteria

The integration is considered successful when all of the following are completed:
✔ Copper ClearLoop account created
✔ Gate ClearLoop account enabled
✔ API Key created
✔ Accounts successfully bound
✔ Funds delegated
✔ Trading functioning normally
