Metaplanet purchased an additional 5,075 BTC in the first quarter of 2026. With this move, the company became the world’s third-largest institutional Bitcoin holder.
Metaplanet, a Japan-based company, continues to aggressively increase its Bitcoin holdings. In the first quarter of 2026, the company bought another 5,075 BTC, bringing its total assets to 40,177 BTC.
This move elevated Metaplanet to a significant position among institutional Bitcoin holders. Along with this purchase, the company surpassed MARA Holdings to become the company with the world’s third-largest institutional Bitcoin reserves.
