Rocket Lab clears German review, moves into satellite lasers in Europe

Rocket Lab has received regulatory approval from Germany to acquire Mynaric, a laser optical communications terminal provider, with the transaction expected to close in April 2026. This acquisition will establish Rocket Lab’s first European presence in Munich and integrate Mynaric’s technology to support the company’s $1.3 billion Space Development Agency prime contract for 36 satellites. Rocket Lab aims to scale Mynaric’s manufacturing to address supply chain shortages for constellation operators, strengthening its capabilities in serving national security and commercial customers globally.
