Former Ethereum Foundation board member: Ethereum's focus has shifted from technical research to execution and market demand alignment
ME News message, April 1 (UTC+8). Nethermind’s founder and former Ethereum Foundation co-executive director Tomasz Stanczak said at the EthCC[9] conference that Ethereum already has a solid research foundation. At present, the core mission has shifted from technical research to efficient execution and aligning with market needs. Collaboration between the protocol team and application developers needs to be further strengthened to support real-world demand for stablecoins, prediction markets, AI integrations, and next-generation wallets. In terms of technical direction, Tomasz proposed continuing to optimize data availability through solutions such as Blobs; improving L1 throughput through protocol upgrades; and deepening interoperability among L2s to enhance the user experience in a multi-chain environment. He also mentioned that Nethermind is advancing the Surge Rollup template project based on the Taiko stack, achieving deep alignment with L1 and native anti-censorship by delegating transaction ordering to Ethereum L1 validators. Tomasz said that Ethereum also needs to communicate its technical vision more clearly to traditional financial institutions, and that simplifying the roadmap will enhance ecosystem transparency and certainty.
