🔥A large-scale attack hits Saudi Arabia’s Jubail Industrial Zone, disrupting global petrochemical production

On April 7, Iranian officials cited unnamed sources, saying that on the same day an explosion occurred in Saudi Arabia’s northeastern Jubail Industrial Zone that involved “U.S. capital,” reportedly as a result of a large-scale attack. The Jubail Industrial Zone is one of the world’s major petrochemical production bases, with an annual output of approximately 60 million tons of petrochemical products, accounting for 6% to 8% of the global total. The zone is home to multiple major petrochemical enterprises and projects, including Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), the Sadara project involving U.S. company Dow Chemical, and a project jointly invested in by Saudi Aramco and France’s TotalEnergies.
