Due to the recent stretch of consecutive rainy days, the water level of Poyang Lake—the largest freshwater lake in China—has begun to rise continuously. At 8:00 on February 28, the water level at Xingzi Station, a key hydrological station on Poyang Lake, rose to 8.23 meters, up 0.12 meters from the 27th. The water level at Hukou Station on Poyang Lake rose to 8.05 meters, which is also the first time it has risen back to above the extreme low-water line of 8 meters after falling below the 8-meter extreme low-water level at 6:00 on December 14, 2025. After entering the Rain Season, rainy and overcast weather in Jiangxi Province has become frequent. In the southern part of northern Jiangxi, central Jiangxi, and southern Jiangxi, the cumulative rainfall ranges from 80 millimeters to 100 millimeters, with about 140 millimeters in some areas. Meteorological authorities expect the weather pattern of frequent rainy and overcast conditions to continue until early March. According to estimates from Jiangxi Province’s hydrological monitoring center, over the coming period the water level of Poyang Lake will show a fluctuating upward trend. (CCTV News)
