Minister of Commerce Wang Wen Tao Meets with Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation; the two sides exchanged views on issues including ASEN Semiconductor and other related matters.
According to the Ministry of Commerce website, on March 25, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao met with Sersmar, the Netherlands’ Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, during the World Trade Organization 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on issues such as China–Netherlands economic and trade relations and WTO reform. Ambassador Li Yongzhe of the Chinese delegation to the WTO attended the meeting.
Wang Wentao said that today, Premier Li Qiang spoke by phone with Dutch Prime Minister Yettin, injecting new momentum into the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. Since China and the Netherlands established an open and pragmatic comprehensive partnership in 2014, bilateral economic and trade cooperation has continued to deepen. This not only aligns with the common interests of both sides, but is also conducive to the healthy development of China–Europe economic and trade relations and to the safety and stability of global production and supply chains. China is willing to strengthen policy exchanges with the Netherlands through platforms such as the Joint Economic and Trade Commission, and to properly resolve issues in bilateral economic and trade cooperation through dialogue and consultation. Both China and the Netherlands are firm supporters of, and active contributors to, the multilateral trading system. China is willing to work with the Netherlands to jointly advance practical outcomes at MC14 in areas such as the Investment Facilitation Agreement and e-commerce.
Sersmar said that China is an important economic and trade partner of the Netherlands. The new Dutch government places high priority on developing relations with China. The Netherlands is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, further deepen the open and pragmatic comprehensive partnership, and enhance industrial cooperation in areas such as responding to climate change, water treatment, innovation, and agriculture. Sersmar expressed hope that a delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs will visit the Netherlands soon, and that the 18th meeting of the Joint Economic and Trade Commission between China and the Netherlands will be held with the Chinese side to strengthen dialogue and exchanges and to consult on ways to resolve differences. The Dutch side appreciates China’s position of supporting the multilateral trading system and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side to help ensure the success of MC14.
The two sides also exchanged views on China–Netherlands semiconductor cooperation and the issue involving Advanced Semiconductor.
On March 26, the stock price of the parent company of Advanced Semiconductor, Wingtech Technology, rose by nearly 4% at one point; however, it then declined steadily. By the close of trading, it had risen slightly by 0.25%. As of now, the price is 32.49 yuan per share, and its total market capitalization is 40.4 billion yuan.
