Techub News reports that, according to Yonhap News Agency, in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea, a second-instance verdict was announced in a scam case that used the gimmick of "AI automated trading virtual currency with high returns." The court sentenced the main culprit, A, to 3 years and 6 months in prison. The gang carried out approximately 2,800 scams between 2017 and 2019 under the name of "AI cross-border arbitrage trading Bitcoin," deceiving investors out of about 19 billion Korean won. Four other recruitment personnel were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 1 to 2 years or probation.
