【Crypto World】The Cardano community hard fork working group recently proposed a significant initiative: to name the 2026 protocol version 11 hard fork after the late governance representative Max van Rossem, as a tribute to his outstanding contributions to the ecosystem.
Van Rossem’s background is worth mentioning. As a key figure in the drafting of Cardano’s first constitution, he not only participated in the constitutional committee election working group but also served as co-lead. Notably, he played a crucial role in the inclusion of Article 8 of the constitution. In addition, he founded the AdaMoments project, which is dedicated to permanently preserving users’ personal histories. In terms of local community development, van Rossem was also active in the growth of the Dutch community.
The upcoming plan is for the Cardano community to vote on this naming proposal from January 13 to February 14, 2026. The upgrade to protocol v11 itself is also highly significant—it is expected to greatly enhance node security, optimize ledger consistency, and significantly improve Plutus performance, bringing substantial improvements to the stability and development experience of the entire ecosystem.
