[Chain News] On June 17, news came that a certain trading platform in the United States accused the Commodity Futures Trading Commission ( CFTC ) enforcement department of misconduct in a lawsuit from 2022. According to a letter submitted by the trading platform to the CFTC inspector general on Friday, the exchange stated that CFTC law enforcement officials had brought “suspicious false statement charges” against it based on “lies-filled reports.”

The incident stemmed from a report filed with the CFTC in 2017 after the former head of operations of the trading platform, Benjamin Small, was fired. The trading platform claimed that Small was fired for concealing a multimillion-dollar kickback fraud and then provided false information to regulators out of revenge. The CFTC sued the trading platform in June 2022 for making false statements during the Bitcoin futures contract application process. In its latest letter, the trading platform accused CFTC law enforcement officers of abusing their power in pursuit of personal career advancement. The exchange expressed its willingness to assist the CFTC in its enforcement reforms, noting that Acting Chair Caroline Pham has begun to work on reorganizing enforcement.
