French law enforcement authorities have charged 88 people in connection with 12 cases of cryptocurrency "wrench attacks," including 10 minors.

Golden Finance reports that on April 27th, according to Cointelegraph, Vanessa Perrée, the prosecutor for organized crime in France, stated that French law enforcement has prosecuted at least 88 people in 12 cases of “wrench attacks” targeting cryptocurrency holders, including 10 minors, with 75 individuals already in custody awaiting trial.
These cases typically involve violence such as home invasions and kidnappings to coerce victims into surrendering assets from their crypto wallets.
Vanessa Perrée said that some suspects are involved in multiple cases, and investigations indicate the existence of a structured criminal network behind these incidents.
Records from French authorities show that there were 18 such cases in 2024, increasing to 67 in 2025, and 47 cases so far in 2026.
