The number of deaths from unexplained diseases in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 60 cases.

On February 28th, Jinshi Data reported that the World Health Organization stated on the 27th that an unexplained disease has appeared in the northwestern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with 60 deaths reported. The WHO said the outbreak occurred in Equateur Province of the DRC. Local health authorities identified cases in Bolomba and Basankusu districts of the province in January and February this year. Currently, a total of 1096 cases have been reported in the two districts, with deaths rising to 60. Patients' symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, neck stiffness, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, and some also have symptoms of nasal bleeding. The WHO stated that preliminary laboratory tests ruled out Ebola and Marburg viruses, with around half of the samples testing positive for malaria. The DRC health department and WHO are conducting further investigations into the unexplained disease.
