Gate Charity collaborated with the Hondao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Foundation to host a memorable Thanksgiving event last week. The event gathered volunteers and local seniors to express gratitude and share joy through art.

Founded in 1995, the Hondao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Foundation has become a cornerstone in supporting elderly individuals who are solitary, vulnerable, or disabled. Through providing a wide range of services including home visits, material aid, medical accompaniment, and health promotion, the foundation has supported over ten thousand seniors, enhancing their quality of life.

The event commenced with a brief introduction to Gate Charity, followed by an art-making session. Gate Charity’s volunteers, together with about 30 participants from the Hondao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Foundation, engaged in art-making. For this occasion, Gate Charity collaborated with the renowned artist Ivy Tsai, who designed thematic artistic templates for the event. This allowed all participating seniors to express their creativity by creating art pieces themed around Thanksgiving.

After art-making, the staff from Gate Charity joined the participating seniors to share Thanksgiving snacks, further enhancing the festive and warm atmosphere. The event concluded with everyone taking a group photo, which captured the precious emotions of joyful interactions between the Gate Charity volunteers and the participating seniors, preserving this touching moment of shared connection.

This collaborative art-making session not only fostered friendships but also supported a great cause. The artworks were transformed into NFTs and auctioned for charity through the Gate platform, with all proceeds donated to the Hondao Senior Citizen’s Welfare Foundation to support their care for the elderly and promote welfare initiatives for seniors. Going forward, Gate Charity will continue to give back to the community, not only by hosting such charitable events but also by actively participating in charity initiatives to assist more vulnerable groups in need.
